Confimation and First Communion displays

The displays for First Communion and Confirmation appeared in the church during the past week, and remind us that the celebration of the these sacraments of Christian initiation is just around the corner. Many thanks to Mrs McLinden and Mrs Swinfen, for their beautiful artwork.

Bishop Devine will visit us to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation with 62 of our children on Monday 11th May. This year the children's preparation for Confirmation included our very successful Faith Friends programme, where 10 young parishoners mentored the confirmandi over the course of three Sundays during February and March. They will be special guests on the night. Please pray for our confirmandi in these final days of preparation.

The children will celebrate their First Holy Communion on Saturday 16th May. This day, which we hope they will remember for the rest of their lives, has been the culmination of their years of formation by their parents since baptism,and their years of Catholic education at St Bernadette's. Please remember to pray for these 44 children, that the rest of their lives will be marked by a deep commintment to Jesus, whom they will receive sacramentally for the first time on May 16th.
